Water Street Ministries is committed to the Church---God’s chosen plan for changing the world. It’s one of our
Core Values! We believe that God has raised us up to accomplish a specific purpose and plan by assisting the local Church with their Matthew 25 ministry (“to the least of these”). It is essential, then, that we partner with local congregations to accomplish the work God has called us to do.
Water Street Ministries’ Church Ambassador program is designed to create a strategic link between the churches of Lancaster County and Water Street Ministries. Individuals or groups (such as Missions Committees, etc.) become a liaison between their church and Water Street Ministries. The needs of both are shared back and forth so that each party can be in prayer for one another. In addition, Water Street Ministries is informed of the needs that churches have to help their congregations learn more about homelessness and what they can do about it. Water Street Ministries can supply speakers and resources to assist the churches in meeting these needs. Local churches are then informed about the various support opportunities at Water Street Ministries (volunteer, tangible needs, and financial) so that they can partner with us to make sure that all of our needs are met as well.
The Church Ambassador program not only provides a cooperative ministry relationship with local churches, but it also serves to establish an association with those churches and the men, women and children who live here. This in turn gives our clients a place of connection with the local body of Christ so that they may find the support and encouragement they need once they conclude their stay at Water Street Ministries. By establishing a healthy relationship with a local church, clients are more likely to steer clear of the problems that led them to Water Street Ministries in the first place.
