Water Street Ministries

Food Services

Using donated food items, the Food Services Department serves all five of our divisions of Water Street Ministries: Lydia Center, Teen Haven, Water Street Health Services, Water Street Mission, and Wonder Club Early Learning Centers. From providing three meals a day at Water Street Mission and the Lydia Center to snacks at Wonder Club and Teen Haven, the Food Services Department is very busy.

A majority of the food donations are used in the kitchen or Outreach Ministries of Water Street Mission. The kitchen is always busy as Water Street Mission making and serving three meals a day, 365 days a year! On average, Water Street Mission provides about 450 meals daily to clients and community members.

Many individuals, businesses and restaurants have become very faithful food donors. In addition, Water Street Mission holds a Rescue Mission Food Drive from October through December each year. Through this effort, the community blesses us with enough canned goods to meet our kitchen needs for the majority of the following year!

The Food Services Department gladly welcomes donations any time of year, including fresh meat, fruits, and vegetables, at our Food Drop-off.

Sometimes we receive food from companies in larger quantities than we can use before it spoils. We have developed relationships with churches and agencies who also offer meals or food banks in Lancaster County, and in these cases we pass the food onto them. None of it spoils and more people are fed!
