The Men’s Discipleship Center offers renewal to homeless men in Lancaster County.
Men’s Work Program
Some men have fallen into hardship and lost housing or jobs but do not have life debilitating issues, like addiction. These men only need temporary housing and an opportunity to find new employment in the community.
In Water Street Mission’s Work Program, clients are free during the day to fully engage in their job search. Along with assistance in the employment search, the Men’s Discipleship Center provides specialized training to help men to be good long-term employees.
As clients find employment, they may continue living at Water Street Mission while they save for their transition back to the community.
This option suits well those coming out of prison who need assistance with their transition. Length of stay is decided on an individual basis.
Men’s Addiction Recovery Program
For those struggling with addiction or other life-threatening problems, the Men’s Discipleship Center offers an effective, spiritually based, addiction recovery and discipleship program. This 12-24 month program is an intensive mixture of:
- Weekly Individual Counseling
- Relapse Prevention Training
- Work Therapy/Employment Training
- Life Management Training
- Spiritual Development Training
- Weekly meetings with an offsite Mentor
- GED
- Computer Literacy Training
- Money Management Training
- Relationship Skills Training
The program includes a Transition Phase where men continue to live at Water Street Mission after having secured employment to pay off debt and save money for their transition into the community. Instead of immediate employment, some men choose college classes in preparation of more sustainable career options, and Water Street Mission supports them in this choice. Ultimately we want to support men for success in their new life of recovery.
