When David and Latesha Everhart’s oldest son, David, Jr., was nearing school age, they began looking for a suitable preschool program. They checked into several programs but weren’t satisfied with the options. Then they heard about Wonder Club Early Learning Centers (WCELC); the private school setting and full-day program appealed to their family’s needs. When David was accepted, his family turned down other enrollment offers to instead choose Wonder Club.
That was two years ago. Now David, 6, is learning to read in kindergarten at Wonder Club, and his younger brother, Alex, 4, is also enrolled here in the half-day Pre-K program. After starting off his school year with tears every morning from separation anxiety, Alex is now happy, well-adjusted and enjoying his school experience. Although he’s young for a four-year-old, he is quickly learning to write his name and identify his letters.
Latesha said she has seen changed attitudes in her boys since they have been attending Wonder Club. Before enrolling, the boys had few boundaries and few interactions with other children. Now they haven’t only learned about God, letters and numbers, but they’ve also learned about good manners and about helping at home.
“The teachers are so totally involved with the children, consistent with discipline, and focused on everyone in the family,” Latesha said.
That focus on the entire family has made a difference in the Everhart home. Latesha said the school has helped her and David to be more actively involved with their children and has helped her strengthen her belief in God.
“I love knowing that when I, as a parent, have questions, the staff is there ready to listen, offer advice, and to pray for the family,” Latesha said.
